About my MG TF
For sale is my fully restored 1954 MG TF painted in its original Ivory with a green interior.
The TF has been completly restored 2 years ago and was fitted with new body tub from Hutsons in the UK during the restoration. All the wood and metal skins were new, absolutely no rust or wood rot. Since restoration the TF has not seen a single drop of rain.
The engine was overhauled and although I'm not sure what the original mileage was but the internal engine wear was minimal. It is still a standard bore size and the crank bearings are also still standard. A new Crane cam and followers was installed. Hardened exhaust valve seats were installed in the head along with bronze valve guides. The transmission was stripped and a new lay shaft and bearings were installed, all the gears sets were in perfect condition, even first gear !. All the mechanical systems we gone through and the car is a real pleasure to drive, it will run at 55 mph all day without missing a beat.
The radiator was re-cored with a larger flow rate core and a 70's MGB 7 bladed plastic fan installed ( the original metal fan goes with the TF ) .
All the instruments were sent to John Marks at Vintage Restorations in the UK and were restored to as new condition, even the clock works ! ( most of the time ). The original leather interior is was replaced along with the top and side curtains, with the Ivory body and Green interior, the black Stayfast top just look right.
The TF still has the original MG asymmetric front and rear bumper that were re chromed, not the crappy Chinese after market bumpers seen on most T-Series cars these days. Most of the chrome items are the original MG pieces, no Chinese after market stuff on my TF. The wire wheels are Dunlop with Dunlop 185/70 radial tires. I have an original set of wire wheels that have 155 bias ply tires that will need restoration if wanted with the TF.
The electrical system is perfect, a new fabric covered wiring loom from British Wiring was installed and the original electromechanical voltage regulator guts were changed to an electronic regulator. The SU fuel pump is a new electronic version from SU , yes it still clicks away just like the mechanical version.
If you are so inclined this car will not let you down at shows bringing home rosettes.
